SAND BLAST 2019 at Tod's Point Beach
Saturday July 27th at Noon
Bring a shovel, pail, or any tools to create a sand sculpture. Check-in on the beach under the pavilion, and get a flag to mark your sculpture for judging.
Participants will receive a gift certificate to Meli-Melo of Greenwich, and a FREE beach bucket courtesy of the Greenwich Arts Council.
This year’s event will include live music, as well as professional artist and honorary sandcastle judge Joseph Dermody.
About the artist: Joseph Dermody has been weaving paths between the visual and performing arts for over a decade. "A symphony dancing over a canvas", one collector stated. His expression through music, painting, sculpture and structural design are held in fine balance and continue to influence his process across each discipline. Reconstructing organic materials and concepts into abstract paintings, sculpture, and furniture, Dermody's work is a personal commitment to artistic fusion and approachability. Sponsored by the Greenwich Arts Council and the Town of Greenwich Department of Parks and Recreation, Sand Blast is a fun family event for all. There is no specific theme for sand sculptures, and participants are encouraged to indulge their imaginations enjoying the experience of creating art in the sand.
